My name is Joseph Richard Wenani, and I’m the founder of Joweri.com (JOWERI = JOseph WEnani RIchard – yeah, it’s an acronym of my full name).

I’m a web developer and content strategist based in Nairobi, Kenya. I help Kenyan businesses, entrepreneurs, and creators build websites that work and create content that ranks on Google.

Since starting this site, I’ve worked with dozens of Kenyan businesses to launch their digital presence, and I’ve published guides that have helped thousands of people learn web development, SEO, and how to make money online.

How It All Started

I didn’t wake up one day and decide to be a web developer. I kind of stumbled into it.

A few years back, I needed a website for a small project I was working on. I looked around for developers in Kenya and the quotes I got were insane – like KSh 80,000 for what looked like a basic WordPress site with a free theme.

So I thought, “How hard can this be?” and taught myself.

Turns out, it was harder than I thought. But I figured it out. And then friends started asking me to build sites for them. Then their friends. Then actual businesses.

At the same time, I noticed something: most of these businesses had no idea how to get traffic to their new websites. They’d spend good money on a site, launch it, and… crickets. No visitors. No customers. Just a pretty website sitting there doing nothing.

That’s when I dove into SEO and content marketing. I learned how Google actually works, what makes content rank, and how to turn blog posts into business assets.

Now I do both: I build the websites AND create the content that brings people to them.

What I Do

Web Development

I build WordPress websites for Kenyan businesses:

  • Custom website design and development
  • E-commerce sites with M-Pesa integration (because that’s how we pay for things)
  • Website redesigns for outdated sites
  • Performance optimization (fast-loading sites that rank better)
  • Hosting setup and ongoing maintenance

Every site I build is mobile-friendly (most Kenyans browse on phones), secure, and optimized for search engines.

SEO & Content Writing

I create content that ranks on Google and drives traffic:

  • SEO-optimized blog posts and articles
  • Keyword research and content strategy
  • Technical SEO optimization
  • Content that converts readers into customers

I don’t just write random blog posts. I write strategic content designed to rank, answer questions your customers are asking, and guide them toward your services.

Free Resources

Beyond client work, I run this blog where I share everything I know:

  • Web development tutorials (WordPress, M-Pesa integration, hosting)
  • SEO and content marketing strategies
  • How to make money online (blogging, freelancing, side hustles)
  • Education guides (university courses, student portals, career paths)
  • AI tools for business

Whether you hire me or not, the knowledge is free. I learned from free content online, so I’m paying it forward.

Why People Work With Me

I Do Both Code and Content
Most developers can’t write. Most writers can’t code. I handle both, which means your website will be technically solid AND your content will actually rank on Google.

I Know the Kenyan Market
I’m not some international agency trying to figure out Kenya. I live here in Nairobi. I know M-Pesa is king. I know most people browse on mobile data. I know which hosting providers actually work in Kenya. I understand your customers because they’re my neighbors.

You Work Directly With Me
No account managers. No junior staff. No outsourcing. When you hire me, you get me handling your project from start to finish.

I Explain Everything
When we work together, I don’t just do the work and disappear. I explain WHY I’m making certain decisions so you understand your own website and content strategy.

I Care About Results
I don’t just deliver websites or blog posts. I build digital assets that generate traffic, leads, and revenue. Your success is my portfolio.

My Approach

Here’s how I work with clients:

1. Discovery Call
We talk about your business, goals, target customers, and what’s not working right now.

2. Clear Proposal
I send you a detailed proposal with scope, timeline, deliverables, and pricing. No surprises. No hidden fees.

3. Collaborative Work
I keep you updated throughout the project. You give feedback, I make revisions. This is your digital asset, so your input matters.

4. Quality Delivery
I deliver work I’m proud to put my name on. Clean code. Well-written content. Professional design.

5. Knowledge Transfer
I show you how to manage your website, understand your analytics, and make updates yourself if you want to.

6. Ongoing Support
Even after delivery, I’m available for questions, updates, and support. I don’t disappear after launch.

Real Talk About the Industry

Look, the digital services space in Kenya is messy.

A lot of “developers” just install WordPress themes and call it custom work. A lot of “content writers” churn out generic articles that don’t rank on Google. A lot of “agencies” charge premium prices but outsource to cheap freelancers.

I’m not saying I’m perfect, but I know my stuff. I can show you code I’ve written, articles I’ve ranked, and websites I’ve built that actually generate business for my clients.

I’m also not trying to scale into some massive agency. I work solo because I care about quality over quantity. I’d rather do 5 projects exceptionally well than 50 projects badly.

My Mission

To help Kenyan businesses, entrepreneurs, and creators build profitable digital presence through solid web development, strategic content, and real education.

I believe Kenya has incredible potential in the digital economy. We have brilliant minds, hardworking entrepreneurs, and unique stories. What we often lack is the technical and marketing know-how to turn those strengths into thriving online businesses.

That’s the gap I’m filling.

Beyond Client Work

While client projects pay the bills, my real passion is teaching.

That’s why I spend hours creating detailed guides on this blog. My philosophy is simple: give away 90% for free, charge for the 10% that’s custom implementation.

I’ve published tutorials on:

  • How to build WordPress sites from scratch
  • How to rank content on Google
  • How to integrate M-Pesa payments
  • How to make money blogging
  • Which university courses lead to good careers
  • How to use AI tools for business

If my free content helps you build your own site or rank your own articles without hiring me, that’s still a win.

A Bit About Me

When I’m not coding or writing, I’m probably:

  • Doing a bit of farming (it’s relaxing, okay?)
  • Playing video games (current obsession: FIFA and strategy games)
  • Attending various events around Nairobi
  • Testing new AI tools and automations
  • Reading about marketing and psychology

I prefer water over coffee (yeah, I’m that guy). I believe simple designs work better than fancy ones. And I think most business problems can be solved with better communication.
