Kenyatta University Profile

Kenyatta University (KU) is one of Kenya’s oldest universities. It was officially established under the Kenyatta University Act in 1985, but its history goes back to 1965, when it started as Kenyatta College, offering secondary and teacher training in Kenya.

In 1970, an act of Parliament made Kenyatta University a part of the University of Nairobi, and it became known as Kenyatta University College. In August 1985, it became fully independent and began offering programs in Education, Science, and Arts.

Kenyatta University Admission Process

After choosing our course at Kenyatta, what’s next? Well, it’s time to consider how to enroll at the university. Luckily, the university has shifted its admissions process, and you can apply to join using the KU Admissions Portal.

However, before you proceed with the online application, you must ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria for the program you are applying for. To check specific course requirements, follow the process below:

How To Apply

Kenyatta University accepts applications from two categories of applicants: Government and self-sponsored students. Below is the process of making your applications to join the university:

KUCCPS Placed Students

Government-sponsored students are also KUCCPS students. These are students who make their applications using the KUCCPS portal. If KUCCPS has placed you, you can head over to the KU admissions portal, download your admissions letter, and report with it on the day of admissions at the university

Self-sponsored Students

Self-sponsored students, on the other hand, are a category of students who join the university without any scholarship or funding from the government. To make your applications, here is how:

• Start by visiting the official Kenyatta University website.
• Look for the admissions link on the website homepage and click on it.
• Once you are on the admissions homepage, click on “Apply Now. ” You will then be redirected to the eCitizen portal, where you can start the application process.
• Proceed to log in to the portal or create an account if you don’t have one
• Once logged in, you will be presented with 3 services: Undergraduate Programme Application, Application for ICT Certification Courses, and Postgraduate Programmes Application. Choose the one you want to make the application, and continue
• Provide accurate and complete information in the application form, including your academic qualifications, personal details, and program choices.
• Proceed to pay the application fee, which is KShs. 2,000 for a certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree, and Kshs. 3,000 for a master’s degree, doctorate, or post-graduate diploma. For international or foreign applicants (non-East Africans), the application fee is USD 50.
• Once you’ve completed the application form and paid the fee, review all the information carefully and submit your application.
